Dear Reader and fellow Netizens,
I am glad to have sparked your interest in discovering a little more about this repository here which I fondly call “My Yugen Moments”. As a discerning reader, I am sure you have many contents to choose from. It is, therefore, great to have you visit and read content posted by me.
I owe my thanks to the search phrase, you typed on google, which eventually brought you here! A big shout-out to that phrase and a personal note from me 😊
“You made my day and I wish you may get typed more often”.
I am Jeetinder Chopra, an engineer by profession, an avid reader, and a traveler by passion. I thoroughly enjoy good fiction, warmth in the chill of mountains, quietness in roaring ocean waves, and long rides with my partner in life, on my Royal Enfield Thunderbird.
I enjoy penning down my thoughts and experiences. People close to me say that I do that reasonably well and, therefore, after a lot of procrastination and with the support and encouragement from my loved ones, I have finally decided to start this blog where I can express and share my musings for a wider audience.
You will find content that is essentially my expression of the moments I celebrate. These are my Yugen moments that are out there to be discovered and cherished and I hope that reading these will help you find yours as well.
Now, unless the search phrase “Yugen” brought you here, I am sure you are waiting for me to demystify this word for you and what it means to me. Though the translation of this wonderful Japanese word varies as per context, it certainly alludes to the real world in which we live. In most simplistic terms “Yugen” is something that is subtle and profound and is “an awareness that triggers emotional responses too deep and powerful for words”. I have taken the liberty to expand the definition to situations, which are as diverse as reading a wonderful book, embarking on an exciting journey, having delicious food or drink, standing up against wrong, watching a nice movie, or even daydreaming, sky – gazing, doing nothing and the list goes on.
On this journey, I am inspired by “I think, therefore I am (Cogito Ergo Sum)”, which is an extremely thought-provoking dictum coined by French Philosopher, Rene Descartes.
In his view, the only way to seek truth is by doubting and questioning the information, which is being fed to our senses. He further concluded that the very fact that we have the unique capability to challenge our thoughts, that alone implies that we exist. If we do not think and doubt, we are just a body. The power of thinking, with which we are all blessed, eventually leads us to ask questions, judge right v/s wrong, apply reason and which eventually leads to awakening, and presto, we again come back to “Yugen”!!
So, happy reading folks, and please do share your comments, feedback, suggestions, and criticism too are welcome. Engaging and interacting with you all, are also My Yugen moments.
Cheers!!
