Dear Friends,
I am writing this post on behalf of Sh. Nareshwar Koch Who used to be a daily wage labourer from Tinkonia Para village. Below account is by him in first person. I hope that you all will take some time from your busy schedule to read this and at least ponder over the same for few moments. If that happens, his effort will not go futile. Over to Sh. Koch now.
Good day to all!!
I am grateful for having my words reach out to you through this blog. As mentioned by the narrator, I used to be a daily wage labourer from Tinkonia para village in Assam, until I was detained and send to Goalpara detention centre in March 2018. All this, because I was labelled as a non-citizen, as, I could not prove otherwise and I did not have resources to engage a good lawyer to help me with the process.
In this detention centre, at the age of 50, I breathed my last on 03rd January,2020. I passed away as a person with no state and no roots in a detention centre, which, on records, does not exist, as claimed by our powers to be.
Before me there have been 28 others, who have met the same fate. The recent one before me was Sh. Dulal Paul. Unfortunately, I do not know the other names, but I hope that I will have the good fortune of meeting them at the place, where I currently reside.
By the way, this new place is fabulous. Here, there are no boundaries and borders and we are free in the real sense. Any you know what, here we do not need any papers to prove who we are. Being a soul suffices! Wow, what a feeling!!
Now that I have access to real information, without having to rely on Godi media, I came to know that it has been recorded in Rajya Sabha proceedings, that our deaths have been due to natural causes. 🤔Perhaps, our honourable representatives are correct but it may be good, if they can have a first-hand experience of residing few days in one of such facilities, being away from family and friends and living in crowded facilities and that too with no identity.
I have also been given to understand that we were a drain on the resources of our great nation. Now that 29 of us are out of the system, hopefully things would be better off for you all.
I am sure that many of you must be surprised by the two names, mine and Sh. Paul, and you would have immediately googled to know our faith. What did you find ??
Now that I have obtained Nirvana, I too can preach words of wisdom :
“Remember, that when there is a Tsunami of hate and bigotry, it will not discriminate. Everyone in its path, will be washed away.”
Someone mentioned that if I had waited for some more time, I might have reaped the benefits of some new law called CAA. I actually chided myself for having been so naive and unaware of this master stroke. Then, I asked that person that would this CAA something would have also benefited all the 28 before me. I was told, that depends… and with this response my newly found enthusiasm faded away and I said “no thank you”.
We … oops sorry included myself by mistake, you all, live in times when someone poses a question that what are the biggest threats facing our great nation, the most common answer will be the obviously the neighbouring nation and the other faith, being at number two position.
You have been, step by step, taught to ignore the countess deaths due to hunger and malnutrition, joblessness, poverty, abysmally low levels of education and healthcare and massive pollution of the water and air which you all drink and breathe. Please recognise these common enemies and work towards eradicating them, before it is too late.
Up here, no one gives a damn to what faith you followed. In fact, I have been offered a chance under the reincarnation scheme to be borne again. But, I have declined this offer for now. However, will surely reconsider, when the above common enemies have been eradicated. Hope this happens in my lifetime, whatever it means up here.
Have been writing and sermonising for too long and need to conclude. There are actually better things to do here. I do not want to sign off by saying see you soon, pun actually intended 😀
Be happy ! Be human !
Cheers
